Free Weights

Free weights are great because they can target many different muscle groups. They allow someone with little room or income to get a full gym experience. Free weights can come in a few different setups and can be bought in sets or individually.

Dumbbells are free weights designed to fit in one hand. The weight can be stationary or adjustable. Stationary weights are one piece where as adjustable weights are bars in which the weight can be added or removed. Barbells are longer bars with adjustable weights. Barbells are designed to be used with both hands such as in a bench press.

One of the most important aspects of training using free weights is proper form. If the weight is being used incorrectly it could result in injury or in overtraining of one side opposed to the other. The weights should be made of durable material and be the proper size for the user. Using too much weight can be very dangerous especially is a spotter is not around.
