Pilates Power Gym

Pilates is a method of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates during WWI to rehabilitate wounded soldiers and inmates. The exercises were developed originally on the floor with a mat. Machines added resistance and aided those who could not leave the bed or work on the floor.

Pilates develops flexibility and strength. The primary focus is on moving the body with mindful control. Every exercise draws the participant to focus on the whole body. Machines take the exercises up a level by adding resistance to the movements.

Home Pilates machines like the Pilates Power Gym provide a means to gain this resistance without the use of expensive studio machines. These machines are large and can be complicated. A home machine simplifies some of the moves and can provide a participant a general but effective Pilates workout.
